Dr. Tom Brett, DC, attended Cleveland Chiropractic College in Kansas City, and for fourteen years, owned and operated one of the most successful chiropractic clinics in Texas.  At the time, Tom spoke frequently of his vision of chiropractors working alongside medical doctors and physical therapists – to create an integrated approach to do what is best for patients. That would all be put on hold due to a series of events that would move Dr. Brett and his family to Branson, Missouri.

The truth is, many in the Branson area are completely unaware of Dr. Brett’s career in chiropractic and know him only as a performer, singer, instrumentalist, recording artist, vocal coach, and co-owner and co-producer of The Bretts Show in Branson, Missouri, which has been his life for the past twenty years. So, here is the rest of the story…

Tom grew up in a very musical family and he always loved music himself, but because he saw first-hand the difficult lifestyle of the professional musician, he chose to pursue a career as a chiropractor. As a teenager, it was a chiropractor who helped him overcome migraine headaches, and he wanted to help people in a similar way. After his marriage to his wife, Andrea, he attended Cleveland Chiropractic College in Kansas City, and after his graduation, he opened a solo practice in McKinney, Texas, which quickly became one of the most successful in the state, treating hundreds of patients each week. Tom and Andrea, and their three children enjoyed music as a hobby and avocation. 

After nearly fourteen years in practice, Tom suffered a career-altering neck injury – the most severe MRI’s he had seen in all his years of practice were his own - and the doctor became the patient. At the age of 38, Tom faced the possibility of paralysis, disability, and a lifetime of impaired function and pain. He and Andrea wondered if his best years were over. Because of his young age, the nature of his injury, and his own experience in his clinic treating post-surgical patients, Tom opted to do everything he could to avoid surgery. He will forever be indebted to his colleagues at Fonder Chiropractic in Fredericksburg, Texas, who treated him twice a day, seven days a week over the course of several months, and, who over time, helped him to regain his life. Because his rehabilitation was so lengthy, and there was a risk of re-injury, Tom was not able to return to his practice.

It was around this time that he and Andrea and their three children attended a family reunion in Branson – their first trip to the “Live Music Capital of the World.” Because of Tom’s injury, he was not able to enjoy all of the outdoor activities at the lake, so he came in to town and saw his first Branson show. On the way home to Texas, he said to the family, “someday, we are going to come back to Branson and open our own show.” The family laughed at him. But, those words proved prophetic, as it was just one year later, The Brett Family was hired to perform on The Showboat Branson Belle, and they opened their own show on the Branson Strip in the year 2000.  This providential turn of events led to a new career in music and live entertainment, and over twenty years later, The Bretts are still performing in Branson. Because the Bretts three children, Briahna, Brydon, and Garon, are all now pursuing their own adult lives and careers, The Brett Family performs only during the Christmas season, November 1 through December 10, at Dick Clark’s American Bandstand Theater. When The Bretts reduced their Branson schedule to only the Christmas season, Tom decided it was time to return to his roots in health care and open the clinic he always imagined – one that integrates chiropractic, cutting edge medicine and physical therapy, all under one roof.
